This summer, we are bringing the fun back to Baltic Square. Kids Fest at Baltic Square, Gateshead is a free family event taking place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August 2026, running from 12 noon to 4pm each day. With fun fair rides, food stalls, coffee, live character performances, and meet and greet opportunities, it is set to be one of the best free family days out in the North East this summer.

What Is Kids Fest?
Kids Fest is a free, outdoor family event organised by Dunes Event Group, held in the heart of Gateshead at Baltic Square. The event is suitable for under 12s, and entry is completely free when you book your ticket in advance through our website.
Think live stage shows, beloved characters, fun fair rides, and a brilliant summer atmosphere right on the Gateshead riverside. It is the kind of day out that does not cost a fortune but feels like it should.
If you were at our Easter Egg-Stravaganza earlier this year, you will know exactly what to expect. If you missed it, Kids Fest is your chance to experience what we do best.
What Is On at Kids Fest?
Each day has its own entertainment lineup, giving families a reason to come back for both.
Saturday 8th August brings Ms Rachael, Bluey, Stitch, and Superhero and Princess performances to the stage, with meet and greet opportunities throughout the day.
Sunday 9th August is headlined by the K-Pop Demon Hunters, the high-energy act that packed out Baltic Square at our Easter event earlier this year.
Across both days, there will also be fun fair rides and food and coffee stalls available on a pay as you go basis, so families can make as much or as little of the day as they like.
Free to Attend, But Book Your Ticket
Entry to Kids Fest is completely free, but tickets must be booked in advance. This helps us manage visitor numbers and make sure everyone has the best possible experience on the day.
Tickets for both Saturday and Sunday are available now via Fatsoma. Last entry is at 3pm each day, so we recommend arriving early to catch the full entertainment schedule and make the most of the rides.

Baltic Square, Gateshead
Baltic Square sits right on the Gateshead riverside, with the Millennium Bridge and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art as its backdrop. It is one of the most recognisable and well-connected outdoor spaces in the region, easy to reach from Newcastle and across the wider North East.

What Else Is On This Summer?
Kids Fest is not the only thing we have lined up this August. If your family is looking for more summer fun, Bounce Extreme returns to Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield on 1st and 2nd August, with two hours of unlimited inflatables for under 12s from just £15 per child. It is the perfect warm-up before Kids Fest the following weekend.
