Bonfire Night in Sunderland was truly one to remember as Dunes Event Group joined forces with the Red Sky Foundation to deliver a dazzling evening of fireworks, family fun, and fundraising at Ashbrooke Sports Club.
On Tuesday 5th November, more than 4,000 guests filled the Ashbrooke grounds for the Red Sky Foundation Firework Extravaganza 2025. It was a sell-out celebration bursting with community spirit and driven by an incredible cause. Every ticket sold helped raise funds for life-saving heart surgery for four-year-old Ivanna Potts, who requires specialist treatment in Boston, USA.
From the moment the gates opened, the atmosphere was electric. The event field was transformed into a lively fairground with a towering Ferris wheel, colourful waltzers, and family rides glowing against the night sky. The smell of sizzling street food drifted through the air as visitors tucked into local favourites from stalls such as New York Food Stop and The German Grill. Cosy outdoor seating areas gave families a chance to relax, enjoy their food, and take in the entertainment around them.
At the centre of the action stood a professional stage and digital screen setup, designed and delivered by Dunes Event Group. The large LED screens lit up the field, greeting guests with vibrant Red Sky Foundation branding and messages of hope. The main stage, backed by custom Red Sky banners, hosted a full line-up of live entertainment throughout the night.
Frisk Radio DJs Andy and Steph kept the energy high with music, karaoke, and plenty of laughs, while talented local dance groups performed energetic routines in their trademark red Red Sky t-shirts. The crowd clapped, sang, and danced along as the stage lights reflected across smiling faces. Walkabout performers, including a glowing green dragon puppet, roamed the grounds and added a touch of magic to the evening.
As the clock struck 8pm, anticipation filled the air. The stadium lights dimmed, and the fireworks display burst into life, painting the Sunderland sky in dazzling reds, greens, and golds. The fireworks reflected beautifully off the Red Sky Foundation screens below, creating a breathtaking finale that perfectly captured the spirit of the night - community, celebration, and hope.
The Red Sky Firework Extravaganza was a resounding success, raising vital funds while giving families a Bonfire Night they will never forget. For Dunes Event Group, it was a privilege to play a part in bringing such a meaningful event to life, from the staging and screens to catering and fairground attractions.
As the final fireworks faded and families began to head home, one thing was certain: Ashbrooke’s Bonfire Night 2025 was not just an evening of celebration, but one filled with heart, unity, and unforgettable memories for a truly inspiring cause.
